Heard of Aroma Thai? Yeah, attending a food review a few days back, hosted by Iris and was being well served by Julius Khoo, Owner of Aroma Thai.

It was dinner, a table for six, Isaac, Janice, Jayren, Edwin, Iris herself and me myself. Upon arrival, we were served with a glass of drink, Lemon Grass with Pandan Leaves. Which I pretty much enjoyed the drink. It wasn't too sweet, nor was it too tasteless, with the kiwi seeds floating in it, made it quite enjoyable to drink.
After a while, the dishes was served. I must say, service there was faster than I expected it to be.
Soup
The clear TomYam Soup
-I didn't really enjoy this dish. I expected it to have more of the tomyam taste but it tasted more like lime juice to me. I asked Julius was the ingredients in this dish and true enough, there was lime juice in it. Some what like asam boi. I personally do not like the taste of asam or lime for that matter.

Thai TomYam
This tom yam was very much better than the clear tom yam soup. Spicy enough to have the kick on the tongue. Had prawns, crabs, cuttle fish, muchrooms and a few other types of vegetables in it.

Dishes
Thai Kang Kung
Nothing special, but it wasn't half bad.
Dried Mango and Otak Otak
Cuttlefish fried with Salted Egg and Fresh Steam Fish
Mixed vegetable fried with meat
Nothing special again. My grandmother always makes this dish, and trust me when I say that Aroma Thai has a lot of room for improvement with this dish.
Hot Plates
Tom Yam Fried Rice and Salted Fish Fried Rice
The tom yam fried rice could have be fried with more chilli to make it more spicy and the salted fish fried rice was just way too salty.
Desserts
Waterchest Drink/Ruby
Usually served with Jackfruit (nangka). The red ruby coat on the waterchest are usually more sticky and chewy, this was rather more floury which didn't taste as good. Nonetheless, it was sweet enough.
Mango Sticky Rice
This is one of my fav dessert in Thailand, and I've tasted one of the BEST Mango Sticky Rice made by my aunty. Aroma Thai serves this dessert with many flaws to it. Firstly, the glutinous rice was not sticky at all. Having the santan poured all over the rice, it made it look so much like normal rice in soup. Despite having a lot of santan poured on, the rice should still look sticky and solid enough to be chewy. Secondly, way too much santan poured on. Lastly, mangoes was not cold, nor was it fresh.
The combination of the hot glutinous rice, poured over with the room temperature santan, and a bite of the ice cold mango would be a perfect match. Anything less would change the whole dish.
It was fun to have a meal with Iris and Jayren again because it has been long since I've caught up with them both. I enjoyed the service there as Julius Khoo was being very friendly. Nonetheless, there are a lot of improvement that can be made with the dishes served.
I am not sure if it was because of the spicy food, but 3 out of 6 of us went home and woke up with a stomach-ache. I do not usually get stomach upset this way due to spicy food because I CAN take spicy food, there might be other reasons or factors playing a part here, but I feel it was because of the food I ate. Three of us getting stomachaches together after the food review.. hmmm, I wonder.

hmm I guess like what the owner said, it's homecooked, hence might not be really true to its Thai nature?
