Food Review at Molten Lava, One Utama

Ever walked in the shopping mall and just wanted to find a relaxing place to have a drink or two? Somewhere not costly like starbucks or coffee bean, or somewhere not too filling like what restaurants normally serve, or somewhere that serves small portions of unique desserts that isn't sold at many places? Some where that serves good macarons? haha, yea, I've got the perfect place for you.

A few couple of days back, I organised a small food review for the One and Only Molten Lava, One Utama. It was a pleasure to work with Aunty Michelle, Owner of Molten Lava, to organise this simple event.

A table for four was more or less what I wanted.

We reach Molten Lava around 11.30 and was served with a few drinks that I never heard of before. I was pretty curious to have a taste of it.

(From Left to Right)
Passion Fruit Tea
RM8.50
Fresh passion fruit juice with tea, with passion fruit seeds inside to have a nice chew on. I personally love passion fruit, so this drink would be something in favor for.

Fizzy Ribenna
RM5.20
Many people have tried this, nothing special but thirst quenching.

Barley Coffee
RM4.90 Hot
RM5.30 Cold
Love Barley, Love Coffee? Perfect drink for you then. Mixture of the aromatic coffee and the barley after taste was simply amazing. It was a good ratio mix, barley taste was not overpowering the aromatic coffee or vice versa.

Cucumber Soda
RM 7.90
This is the unique drink that I was looking for to try. Cucumber Soda. I firstly thought it was taste rather weird, but I love cucumbers, so I thought I'll give it a try. Turned out, it was actually quite pleasant and I would actually recommend it. Fizzy sweet with a light cucumber taste.

Although Molten Lava specialize in desserts, they serve hot food as well.

Sweet  Sour Chicken Rice (half portion serving in picture)
RM7.80

Kung Po Chicken Rice (half portion serving in picture)
RM7.80

Kampung Fried Rice
RM7.80

Ee Fu Mee
RM7.80
I have to say, that I really enjoyed the Ee Fu Mee and the Kampung Fried Rice. I don't usually eat noodles made like this but this was an exception.

Here comes the awesome dessertsSo what does this look like?

YEAPS, Fried Churos.

Molten Chocolate Dip Churros
RM5.80

Cinnamon Sugar Churros
RM4.80
Not a cinnamon fan? Trust me when I say this will change your mind.

Filled Churros, Dulce De Leche, Chocolate.
RM4.50 each

Kiddy Churros
Drizzled choc, caramel and colorful sugar

THIS IS A MUST TRY DISH IN MOLTEN LAVA
Its called the funnel cake. Why? because of the way it is made. Aunty Michelle did demonstrations on how to make the churros and the funnel cake, for the videos, please feel free to check them out at Isaac's Blog : Molten Lava Post.

Funnel Cake, Banana, Caramel & Ice-cream
RM10.50
Two Words : Sweetest Sin

Picture above was taken when an Australian customer (Australian accent) dropped by to pick up her cake for her son's birthday.

Customers Words (Verbatim) : Michelle's Cakes are the finest. I always come here to buy her cakes.

Molten Lava isn't only a cafe, they cater for food for events as well. Like designing a birthday cake to how you wish for it to look like, following any theme that is desire.

Almond Pear Tart

A slice of the Almond Pear Tart served

and now, saving the very best for last...
MACARONS

Assorted Macarons
RM3.30 each

Colourful isn't it?
My fav flavour of all is the Salted Caramel, something that isn't too sweet and just for my liking. And the salted caramel is Molten Lava's best seller.

The new flavour which I enjoy having as well is the Mint. From fresh mint leaves.

Overall, I enjoyed my time trying out the other dishes from Molten Lava (cause I usually go there for their Macarons only) now that I know what are the other dishes that are good, I'm actually looking forward to have more than just macarons. YUMMY.
