Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2011; Its Raining Chefs
It was literally raining chefs last night. A Storm of Gastronomic Delights at The Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, on the 29th of September 2011 (last night). Over 2000 VIP guest which includes, royalty, ambassadors, captains of the industry, leading corporate figures, local and international media as well as travel and food writers gathered in the Grand Ballroom of Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa. Its the session of region’s most anticipated fine dining event, The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF).

As stated above, this year's theme happens to be, "Its Raining Chefs". Hence the umbrella decorations. Theme this year was creatively thought off by Dato’ Steve Day, the Festival’s Organising Chairman. Together with 28 different restaurants with their own special theme displaying their very own Festival Dishes.

Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa was delighted to welcome The Guest of Honour for the evening, Minister of Tourism YB Dato Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, and Royal Patron Tunku Laxamana of Negeri Sembilan Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar. Both guest of honour together with Dato Steve Day, made an official opening by cutting through a 12- foot high chef hat. As the VIPs made their way into the ballroom, they were greeted with sounds of clanging pots and pans by chefs, a Latin band and Festival Master Chefs waiting to greet them on stage. This is what I call a Grand Entrance.

Entertainment is crucial as well. Clowns and magicians were all over the place.
I was impressed.
Press Conference went well. Many questions were answered and I left the room feeling rather inspired and I must say, to look at the future in the Culinary, Gastronomy, Food & Beverage line, I am proud of what Malaysia has to contribute to the world.
The main sponsor for MIGF is Tourism Malaysia, supported by Carlsberg with Kronenbourg 1664 as the official beer, Astro and AFC channel, Lite FM, Fujifilm, Seni Jaya, Vision Four and Vision KL.

Next post will be more exciting as I would be talking about each restaurant booth and their unique festival fine dining dishes.
My love for food
